Lisa Yancey
Curator, Apollo Music Cafe Mondays. Lisa Yancey lives, breathes, and thrives in the world of creativity. She is an Organizational Development consultant who specializes in development/fundraising planning, strategic organizational planning, and senior project management for nonprofit arts institutions. She is in constant dialogue with artists, advocating strategic opportunities on their behalf. The scope of her experience includes long-term institutional planning, developing marketing strategies, strategic development, funder prospecting, overall development of fundraising strategies, project management, corporate sponsorship, program evaluation and assessment, capital campaign planning/management, producing arts events, and contract negotiation and development. Lisa matriculated from both Boston College Law School and Emory University, respectively earning her Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of the Arts degrees.
As a performance curator, Lisa created the Restoration Rocks! series at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation in Brooklyn, New York. Entering its 4th season, Restoration Rocks! is a FREE music concert featuring some the most dynamic artists to ever rock the Brooklyn stage. A sample of artists presented include John Forté, Toshi Reagon, Blitz the Ambassador, Mano, Jesse Boykins III, Tamar-kali, Jean Grae, Invincible, and Tess.
Further adding to her creative versatility, Lisa has professional background in dance and choreography. From 1992-1999 she experienced life as a professional dancer, choreographer, and company manager in Atlanta, New York City, and Boston. She serves on the Board of Directors of MAPP International Productions, Inc (mappinternational.org).
